early start.

Today I miraculously pulled off another early start to my morning and managed to get up at 8:30am. Another great victory over my warm bed! I studied most of the morning and afternoon at the Celtic Cafe in downtown New Beds. They make some delicious dark brew iced coffee, so I sipped on that while trying to study.

When I got home I made another banana almond milk smoothie, as evidenced in this little Polaroid shot. I can't get enough of bananas lately, even though I strongly dislike their texture and could never eat them in their raw, whole form.

Sarah from Kansas shot me an email yesterday about getting together for dinner, so she, Serena, and I checked out a little mom & pop Puerto Rican place down the road called La Candela. We each got a huge plate of arroz con gandules with a chicken tomato stew for only $6 including a bottle of water. Nice! I haven't eaten meat in a long time, so everything is sitting very heavy in my tum-tum right now, but it was definitely worth it. Lots of tea is in order tonight.

And finally as a side note for posterity, I snapped a brooding/angsty self-portrait after a long day of studying and reading lots of books. I can't believe how much my face has matured in the last four years. It's a strange thing to see yourself getting older. Hmmm...

I've also almost finished my second journal! I started this notebook the summer of 2008 and it's taken me until now to fill all the pages. I'm glad that I've gotten into the habit, though, since my memory is full of more holes than... a chunk of Swiss cheese. Yup! Good thing I have this blog to remember all my witty metaphors.

Happy Monday!
