almond milk.

So, while grad school has only made me marginally smarter, it has made me infinitely more domestic. I hang my head in shame, but it's true. Cooking and cleaning has never been more rewarding. Lounging at home doing absolutely nothing is the best.

What's all this yumminess on the left? Almond milk rice pudding. I bought a carton of almond milk on a whim awhile ago. I've never been a fan of rice or soy milk, so I was hesitant at first. But this stuff is DELICIOUS, like nutty heaven in a glass. Like so mind-blowingly yumyum that I will never go to back to traditional milk. Anyways, there are a bunch of recipes on silkpurealmond.com and I tried the rice pudding. Simple, no added sugar, and deeee-lish.

I also started a new painting, aka anothershoddyrenditionofabetterlookingpieceofartwork. Sure is exhausting having all this talent (hah). Here's stage one. We'll see how far I get on this. It actually takes a great deal of motivation to paint every day. Which attests to my general level of motivation to really do anything besides watch Home Hunters International on hgtv.com in succession for hours. Grand fun.

This all reminds me of a great line in Gilead by Marilynn Robinson: "She ignored whatever did not interest her. With those blows she opened her days like a piƱata. A hundred freedoms fell on her. She hitched free years to her lifespan like a kite tail."

We'll see how long I can keep this kite in the air...
